SuBsonic is quite passionate (to say the least) about providing value for money speaker systems to the Australian market and it's X-Series gear is proof positive of that commitment.
 The XS2 is the entry level subwoofer in the X-Series and matches three main speaker models, two center channel options and two rear channel speakers in the range (as well as a more expensive subwoofer, the XS1).
The point of visual difference between the XS2 and many other subs is the painted cabinet finish on the front panel, which adds interest and appeal to its appearance. This is a compact design subwoofer, ideal for smaller viewing/listening areas and for smaller tower-style main speakers such as the XM3 from the SubSonic range.
The XS 2 provides ample power to excite movie buffs and has the added design feature of being totally suitable for music reproduction when paired with a set of smaller front speakers.
The 250mm diameter woofer is a rugged design which is powered by a robust 130 watt power amplifier section that has been engineered for high activity or usage yet retains important elements of refinement and sonic poise. It's also protected from abuse by an efficient thermal cut-out system.
All SuBsonic subwoofers also come with 'soft clipping' Protection circuitry, which senses the input signal level and instantly adjusts it to prevent clipping of the sound waveform so the bass you hear is clear and as undistorted as possible.
To assist in developing a sonic character that's accurate, reflects the SubSonic philosophy and creates appealing sound, the cone of the woofer has been hand doped to meet certain performance criteria. There's also an oversized dustcap. These have made the diaphragm stiffer and more accurate during movement , with similar effects on the sound quality.
There are enough inputs and outputs to please enthusiasts, you can switch the auto-on function in and out of circuit, crossover is continuously variable, level control is independent and internally there's proper attention to damping.
Some entry-level subwoofers just produce low energy noise and 'rumble' so you will think that what you're hearing is impressive and desirable, particularly on movie sound tracks. In reality you want a sub that's versatile and caters for all your sound requirements and tastes.
This is where the XS2 comes to the fore. There's an excellent sense of bass extension with this sub - the lack of bass 'bloat' actually lets you here how low this sub can go. And for the price it's performance excellent indeed. This sonic attribute lends the product beautifully to music making (an area where inferior products will often let you down). Overall an excellent value product..
